Your Toxic Load (Part Two): Seven Simple Steps for Everyday Detox
If you’ve ever felt foggy, fatigued, or sensitive to smells or skincare products, it might not just be “getting older” or “just stress.” These are often subtle signs of something called toxic load—the buildup of environmental and lifestyle exposures that your body has to process every single day.

There are times when a more targeted detox is necessary, especially after significant exposures like mold, heavy metals, or chronic infections. In these cases, functional lab testing and personalized protocols can safely support deeper detoxification. That’s something we offer in practice when needed.
But for most people, detox starts with daily habits. Your body is already working to eliminate toxins through your liver, kidneys, gut, lymph, and skin. These systems are built to detox—but they need your support, especially in today’s toxin-filled world.
The best part? Supporting detox doesn’t require a complete lifestyle overhaul. Simple, sustainable changes can make a real impact—without the fear or overwhelm.
7 Simple Ways to Support Everyday Detox
You don’t need to turn your life upside down to make a difference. Pick one place to start—and build from there:
💧 Swap plastic for glass
Plastic water bottles and food containers can leach chemicals like BPA and phthalates, especially when heated. Switching to glass or stainless steel is an easy upgrade for your hormones and your health.
🌿 Choose fragrance-free personal care products
“Fragrance” often hides dozens of synthetic chemicals, many of which can be hormone disruptors or skin irritants. Look for “fragrance-free” or products scented only with essential oils.
🌬️ Open your windows daily
Indoor air can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Just 10 minutes of fresh air circulation a day can reduce indoor pollutants significantly.
🥦 Eat more colorful, whole foods
Your liver relies on nutrients to do its job. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, and cauliflower are especially powerful for supporting detox pathways.
🚶 Move your body daily
Your lymphatic system is a key part of detox—but it has no pump. Movement is what gets it flowing. Walks, stretching, rebounding, or even dancing in your kitchen all count.
😴 Prioritize consistent sleep
Your liver is most active overnight. Missing sleep can interfere with detoxification, hormone balance, and immune function. Aim for 7–9 hours most nights.
🧴 Read labels and minimize exposures where you can
You don’t have to toss everything at once. Just start reading ingredient labels—on your food, your lotions, your cleaning supplies. Awareness alone can lead to better choices over time.
Remember: Your body was made to detox. Let’s help it do what it does best—gently, daily, and without the pressure to be perfect.
